Our Hospice Honors Veterans with Pinning Ceremonies

Our Hospice Honors Veterans with Pinning Ceremonies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Columbus, Indiana] July 03, 2025 – Our Hospice is committed to honoring and supporting veterans throughout their end-of-life journey. A recent We Honor Veterans (WHV) pinning ceremony held at Traditions of Columbus exemplifies this dedication, as family, friends, and staff gathered to recognize Bob Haddad Sr. for his service in the United States Armed Forces.

The ceremony was led by retired U.S. Air Force Major General Mark Pillar, who presented Bob with a commemorative pin and expressed gratitude for his service. Bob was surrounded by family—including cousins who traveled from out of state— highlighting the deep personal meaning of the event.

As part of the national WHV initiative, Our Hospice provides specialized end-of-life care that addresses the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of veterans. The program connects veteran-to-veteran volunteers, develops individualized care plans, and holds public recognition ceremonies—ensuring every veteran’s service is acknowledged.

In addition to a pin, each honored veteran receives a handcrafted wooden plaque made by local high school students in the C4 program. General Pillar and other dedicated WHV volunteers visit with these students, reminding them that what they create is more than just a block of wood—it’s a lasting symbol of appreciation and respect for the men and women who have safeguarded our freedoms.

“This ceremony is a heartfelt moment of honor, remembrance, and gratitude,” said Steph Cain, President of Our Hospice. “By honoring veterans like Bob Haddad Sr. who served their country and our community, we surround them with love, respect, and honor—Making Every Moment Count and delivering what matters most to them by staying true to our values.”

This ceremony is just one example of how Our Hospice, together with dedicated veteran volunteers, remains committed to thanking and honoring those who served through meaningful recognition and compassionate care.
