SPARK Columbus: Andy Ball, McDonald's owner-operator
This event is designed for entrepreneurs to learn from successful business owners.
McDonald’s franchisee Andy Ball will be the featured presenter at the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce’s SPARK networking event on August 17 at 5 pm at a warehouse located at 1405 Jackson Street. Ball owns four McDonald’s restaurants, including the one located in downtown Columbus.
Ball began his involvement with McDonald’s as a 17-year old high school student. He rose through the ranks running 12 locations for a franchisee and then working for the McDonald’s corporation for 12 years. In 2009, during the depths of the recession, he had an opportunity to become a store owner. Eight years later, his portfolio includes stores in Trafalgar, Franklin, Columbus and Brownstown.
Since purchasing the Columbus operation a year ago, sales are up 35 percent. At the August 17 event, Ball will share his business insights. At this session, attendees will learn how he focuses on the essential elements of his businesses which are:
• Hiring strong performers
• Training, motivating and retaining employees
• Facility maintenance
• Supporting the community whenever possible
